Zedblack to open exclusive stores & bring new product categories

By Satarupa Chakraborty | September 13, 2017

Zedblack plans to build exclusive store network and bring in more consumer product categories.

FMCG brand Zedblack and Mysore Deep Perfumery House (MDPH), known for its incense stick brand Manthan, plans to set up a chain of organized exclusive retail stores along with some mall kiosks in the format of “Puja Stores”.  Zedblack has also made a modest foray into categories like packaged tea, mosquito coils, mehndi cones and mustard oil and is currently distributing only in Madhya Pradesh as test market before launching across India. The company is soon launching its 2.5 lac sq ft manufacturing unit in Indore which is slated to have 600 employees.

Anshul Agarwal, Director, MDPH, explained to Retail4growth, “The category that we have worked with for the last couple of decades is highly unorganized and lacks awareness. We maximized our reach by establishing direct connect with distributors and by setting up to 30 distribution centers instead of depending on the CNFs. We also have 10 exclusive Zedblack stores which are operated by store owners. We are planning to organize it further and build a chain of Zedblack stores. We are also entering into other consumer market and will start rigorous campaigns after we are done with our research in our test market of MP.”
