Vijay Sales to open 7-8 new stores this year, to start in-store training sessions for customers

By end of 2017, National large format retail chain Vijay Sales is planning to open 7-8 stores in cities like Delhi, Ahmedabad and Pune. On the pretext of completing 50 years in July this year, the retailer will open 1 store in Delhi, 2 in Ahmedabad and 2 in Pune in next 2-3 months. Vijay Sales is also geared up to dedicate 15-20 seater spaces in certain stores for customer training sessions on an experimental basis.

Nilesh Gupta, Director, Vijay Sales, told Retail4growth, “After we started in 1967, we confined our retail expansion within Mumbai for long time before we moved to neighbouring cities. It was lately only in 2008 we started our operation in Delhi. Today, we have 69 stores all across India. We realized that competitions from fellow retailers actually helped us grow and stay ahead.” Vijay sales has also adopted new design concept using more of wood finishes in certain stores like Goregaon and Linking Road outlets. The new design concept will be part of Vijay Sales’s upcoming stores.
