The café has come up in Kingfisher East Bengal Football Club's tent
Kingfisher East Bengal Football Club, one of the oldest and reputed soccer teams of Bengal, has launched a modern cafe lounge called East Bengal Cafe Lounge inside the club's tent. So, even as the city undergoes a makeover with new retail and F&B destinations coming up, the'maidan' area where all the major football clubs are located, will also see a makeover. The café is expected to draw both young and senior people alike to savour the offerings there while they watch the football matches that are projected on a large TV screen placed in the lounge.
The café, launched by F&B house Slice of Heaven, is spread over 600 sq. ft. The interiors are done up in the club's colours red and yellow and feature props like trophies, flags, and pictures of the players. There are also sketches on the wall and the flooring is designed like a grass court - all this creating a typical football club atmosphere.
"So far no other football team club in India has taken this type of an initiative though it is a very common phenomenon abroad. We as a team with the club authorities wanted to introduce this football-themed Cafe Lounge in the country. Our aim is to target each and every age group and any football fan can just walk in and enjoy the treat. If you are not a fan then you will become one for sure which is the core idea behind developing such a venture. We also have certain promotional plans, like if one buys the merchandise one may get some free tickets or discount on the match entry fee. The menu is priced very reasonably to suit the pocket of every visitor,†said Shree Biswas, Co-Owner of the café.
"The interior has been jointly conceived and executed by the team of Slice of Heaven and the football club. As lot of R&D was needed, and we completed the project in three months. We have plans to expand this concept under the umbrella of Slice of Heaven and perhaps take it overseas,†she said.
